The Michigan Teacher of the Year (MTOY) is the spokesperson for Michigan’s 100,000+ teachers. The MTOY attends all State Board of Education meetings as a non-voting member of the board. Additionally, the MTOY has the opportunity to meet with the State Superintendent, Governor of Michigan, President of the United States, and other State and National Teachers of the Year. The MTOY is Michigan’s applicant for National Teacher of the Year (NTOY) and attends four national conferences through the NTOY program, including attendance at Space Camp in Huntsville, Alabama.
